1.11.2011 – Bonus

What a delicious way to celebrate a snow day. =]

Chai Tea Oatmeal

4 Servings

 

Ingredients:

4 chai tea bags

4 cups water

1/4 tsp salt

2 Cups rolled oats

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp cardamom

1 tsp ginger

1/4 tsp cloves

1/2 tsp almond extract

2 bananas, sliced

1/4 cup sliced and/or whole almonds

turbinado sugar and/or brown sugar

almond milk (or your choice of milk)

 

Recipe:

Place water, tea bags, and salt in large pot.  Bring to a boil.

Stir in oats, reduce to a simmer.  Simmer 3-5 minutes.

Add in spices.  Turn off heat.  Stir in almond extract.

Divide into 4 bowls.  Top each bowl with banana slices, 1 tablespoon of almonds, and a sprinkling of sugar.

Place under broiler a couple of minutes, until golden brown (watch carefully or it will burn!).

Add milk to taste.

Enjoy!
